Richard specialises in several areas. His property law practice centres on conveyancing with a particular emphasis on strata and company titles as well as easements and covenants. He also has considerable experience in environmental and local government law.
Richard's practice in the areas of trusts and deceased estates includes drafting and advising on trusts as well as acting in deceased estate administration and litigation. He is a member of the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners (UK).
Richard advises many religious organisations and charities on a wide variety of legal issues.
He has been an office bearer and honorary legal adviser of many community organisations and is a past President of Australia's largest family history society, the Society of Australian Genealogists and past Chairman of the Catholic Cemeteries Board and the Joint Committee of (Rookwood) Necropolis Trustees.
Richard's recreations include the study of the law and practice of heraldry with a particular interest in the symbols by which States represents their sovereignty. He is the principal author of the New South Wales State Arms, Symbols and Emblems Act 2004 and is the President of Heraldry Australia.
Richard is a former court appointed arbitrator and an accredited mediator and was made a member of the Order of Australia in 1996 in recognition of his community work.
