Liz specialises in defendant insurance litigation, including medical negligence and public liability claims.
She has experience in multi-million dollar personal injury claims involving brain injuries, spinal injuries and amputations. She also has experience in product liability claims, intentional torts, property damage claims, statutory lines, contractual disputes and subrogated recoveries.
Liz has acted for a variety of Australian and overseas insurers defending claims on behalf of hospitals, local councils, utility companies and building and construction companies. Her experience includes catastrophic birth claims, delayed diagnosis claims, assault claims, worksite injury claims (involving multiple sub-contractors and labour hire arrangements) and defective design claims.
She has conducted litigation in multiple jurisdictions including Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory, and she has conducted successful appeals in the New South Wales Court of Appeal and the High Court of Australia. In addition, she recently completed a Master of Laws at the University of Sydney majoring in Health Law and Insurance Law.
Liz takes a pro-active approach towards dispute resolution to ensure that claims are resolved as expeditiously as possible on the most favourable terms to the insurer and the insured.
