Ella is responsible for Makinson d'Apice's pro bono program, enabling our lawyers to use their legal expertise to assist those that need it the most.
With a longstanding passion for using her skills to assist disadvantaged members of the community, Ella brings to the firm over 10 years of experience working with a range of social justice organisations.
Prior to joining Makinson d'Apice, Ella worked as a commercial litigator at a top tier law firm and as an academic researching and lecturing on various topics in human rights and Indigenous Australian studies.
She has a particular interest in working with Indigenous communities, asylum seekers and people with disabilities.
In 2020 Ella won the Pro Bono lawyer of the year award at the Women in Law Awards and in 2019 she won the Lawyers Weekly 30Under30 Pro Bono award. Ella was also recognised as a Rising Star finalist at the 2019 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards.
