Before joining Makinson d’Apice, Tim managed the entire leasing portfolio of a local government authority, including drafting, negotiating and finalising commercial and retail leases, leases of public land requiring ministerial consent, licence agreements, encroachment licences/easements, negotiating telecommunications licences with telco authorities, and advising Council generally in relation to the interplay between its dual roles of landlord and consent authority.  His has acted for a Government property department in relation to the leasing of commercial and industrial premises for use by various Government agencies.

 

Legal Expertise

  • Routine and complex retail, commercial and industrial leasing, residential and commercial conveyancing and advising clients in relation to ancillary matters.
  • Drafting and settling master contracts and subdivision documents, negotiating terms of sale, advising and overseeing project throughout the development phase all the way to completion.
  • Acting for Government agencies in relation to complex and routine property matters including disposals and acquisitions by agreement, compulsory acquisitions, acquisitions of easements, covenants and restrictions, maritime leases and construction licences.
  • Retirement villages – acting for residents and, most notably, managing the entirety of a private village’s leasing portfolio and residence contracts.
  • Strata matters, including drafting and settling by-laws on behalf of owners and owners corporations, drafting community management statements for community/neighbourhood schemes and representing both strata schemes and homeowners in NCAT in relation to defects claims.
